About Me

For those of you who don’t know I am Dylan Leith and I will be running in the ING NYC Marathon on November 4th.  Welcome to my blog chronicling my training for the NYC Marathon and promoting donations to my CrowdRise account to raise money for Robin Hood, the charity I am raising $5,000 for.

I decided to run the New York City marathon to raise money for the Robin Hood Foundation after learning about the great work they have done in the fight against poverty in New York City. I moved to New York less than a year ago but I have quickly fallen in love with the city and all it has to offer. Unfortunately, like many places around the world, New York City struggles with an overwhelming amount of need. The city is home to so many examples of great success and opportunity while also being home to so much poverty and despair.

If you’ve ever wanted to do something to make a difference but weren’t sure what to do or where your dollars might be going, I would encourage you to learn more about the Robin Hood Foundation. Robin Hood partners with programs that have proven they are an effective remedy to poverty and are a consistent force for good in the lives of New Yorkers in need. They employ a rigorous system of metrics and third-party evaluations to ensure grantee accountability. Robin Hood’s board pays all administrative and fundraising costs, so 100% of donations goes directly towards building better lives for New Yorkers in need.

My whole life has been about people believing in me and giving me an opportunity where there wasn’t one. I am proud to say I am a part of the first generation of Leiths to graduate from high school and college – something that would not have been possible without countless opportunities. My goal in raising money for the Robin Hood Foundation is to help provide opportunities to others where there are none.

I hope you will join me in my efforts to raise money for the Robin Hood Foundation and follow my progress toward running the ING New York City Marathon on November 4th, 2012!

Sincerely,

Dylan
